This project is concerned with three inner-city cultural precincts in Lonsdale, Lygon and Little Bourke streets in Melbourne. The project explores the policy settings around ethnic cultural precincts here and internationally, conducts research on the cultural history of these precincts, and makes specific policy and implementation recommendations.
The project is an example of theoretical questions around cultural identity and community in conditions of globalization offering insights in applied cultural policy. The policy recommendations in the final report were designed to inform a State-wide cultural precincts policy.
