Partnership with City of Melbourne and Urban Innovations Institute, Netherlands
Summary

Prof Wim Hafkamp, the Research Director of the Urban Innovations Institute, Netherlands, spent 12 months as a Research Fellow at RMIT in 2006. He made a significant contribution to the development of ARC Linkage applications on sustainable housing (Horne, Dalton, Wakefield, Jones, Hyde) and carbon-neutrality (Horne, Fien). He also coordinated the RMIT submission to the 2006 City of Melbourne Transport Strategy process. This project will bring Prof Hafkamp to Melbourne for 2 weeks.

During this period, he will undertake three tasks:

  1. Present a keynote address at the City of Melbourne’s EcoEDGE 2 conference, thus helping to build the RMIT relationship with the City of Melbourne;
  2. Liaise with RMIT staff on current ARC projects and comment on directions of new Global Cities projects; and
  3. Explore potential research partnerships between RMIT and the Urban Innovations Institute, Netherlands.
