The urban 45: ideas for Australia’s cities

Three condensed policy proposals will be prepared for 15 key policy areas and issues to enable policymakers, politicians, the general public and media to absorb a wide range of material with clear messages for practical action. A select list of urban policy academics have been invited to work in small teams to develop the statements.
A document will be launched in August 2007 and circulated to state and federal level politicians, policymakers and media.
The emphasis is on clarity, accessibility and a media savvy approach that will raise these issues into the arena of public debate in the run-up to the federal elections. Urban 45 is an initiative of Global Cities Institute in collaboration with the University of Tasmania Housing and Community Research Unit.
