The Global Cities Institute on a number of specific cities, their hinterlands, and regional contexts. This is not to exclude other places of research, but to focus on these locales as the places where long-term research relations including with universities, governments and NGOs are being developed. It allows for a research database to be slowly accumulated.
Even if our brief is global, because RMIT is located in the Asia-Pacific region it makes sense that the University develops a powerful specialization in this region, including Vietnam where RMIT currently has a major campus.
